Skeleton in the Olympics

I figured since the Olympic's were going on right now it is an appropriate topic to talk about. I recently saw the skeleton sled race and WOW it is so cool, not in a million years would I ever try to go that fast or even try it! It looks like a very fun but a dangerous sport and also competitive. Skeleton occurs on the same track as the bobsleigh does. You start by running also know as the push phase and then you jump on. You lie head first, arms by your side and the movements of your body are what guide you. The name was created when the sled was fist used and it resembled a skeleton. The competition of the skeleton returned in 2002 after being "buried" for 54 years. (Like what I did there LOL😂). It was only a boys sport until 2002. The skeleton must be outside an hour prior to sledding they are not allowed to warm the metal on the sled for a smoother ride. They must finish the race on the board like they started in order for the race to be valid. It is crazy how fast they go the average is 85 mph CRAZY! Going head first I mean that must be scary. They focus on maintaining speeds of 35-40 m/s. Some of the racers even reach 90 mph. I do not think in a million years I would ever be on the sled racing at 90 miles per hour!

  1. I feel ya the skeleton is fast and scary. When ever I watched the skeleton at home I would be so scared someone would get hurt or crash. I would also love to see how many seconds they were beat by. Wow I never knew that it's gone and then they brought it back to the Olympics. Your blog was really detailed and had a lot of information I didn't know.
